DORTMUND RISKS THEIRPHILOSOPHY IN HIRING BOSZ

Friday, July 14th, 2017

So it is that in an era where Borussia Dortmund is trying to get back to the g0od old times of Jurgen Klopp, chief of club Joachim Watzke decided that his personal issues stood greater than the harmony and slow rebuilding being introduced into the squad by sacked coach Thomas Tuchel.

Many expected the chief to go for former Borussia Monchengladbach coach Lucien Favre since he offered something similar to that of the two previous men to take hold of the proceedings of Westfalenstadion pitch. His achievement with French side OGC Nice did enough to convince observers of his capability.

Alas the Dortmund chief like his earlier decision to sack Tuchel against the wishes of substantial of people connected to the club felt Ajax’s Peter Bosz will be a better head to steer them towards the destination they are longing for.

Bosz is a fine coach no doubt but appointing the Dutch man raises few red flags chief of which is that the 53-year old believes football should be played in a way distinctly different from the style Dortmund has been used to for the past 6 years. (more…)

Tuesday, May 9th, 2017

Franz Beckenbauer is one of the most iconic figures in the world of football as he’s a retired player who lifted major pieces of silverware and that during a specific period of time; the German defender was without any doubts the best player in the sport.

During 1972 and 1976, Beckenbauer won the Ballon d’Or which is an individual award that is given to the player who is considered to be the best footballer in that selected year. Another one of his significant accomplishments was being able to win trophies as the captain of Bayern Munich as well as with Germany.

Even though Franz Beckenbauer is out of the pitch and no longer an actual player, he still remains being a hugely influential figure as the German is currently working as a pundit for Sky Germany and has served in various roles for Bayern Munich as the President in some point in time and chairman in another date.

FRANZ BECKENBAUER: BARCELONA TO REACH UCL FINAL

Thursday, April 28th, 2016

Franz Beckenbauer says he is a fan of the Catalan giants, hence he backs the team to reach the champions league final. This came as the team defeated Athletico Madrid in the 2016 quarter finals match on Tuesday.

AC Milan were the last team to win the title back to back while the tournament was in the former format. AC Milan won the titles during the 1989 – 1990 season when the three Dutchmen in Marco Van Basten, Frank Rijkaard and Ruud Gullits changed Italian football.

Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal knocked out of Champions League

Monday, March 30th, 2015

Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal were all knocked out from this season’s Champions League as all of the Premier League clubs failed to make it into the quarter-finals and this has ignited a backlash towards the English sides and in the league in itself with people claiming that the top tier league in England isn’t as good as it’s being claimed.

Even in the Europa League, the Premier League clubs are not able to make it in the Round of 16 as Tottenham Hotspurs lost against Fiorentina and was knocked out, Liverpool also lost against Besiktas. The only Premier League club that managed to survive the Round of 32 was Everton but they later lost after facing off with Dynamo Kyviv.

It seems like there is a European curse which is surrounding the Premier League that is not allowing any clubs in England on competing at the big stage as they just fall short but according to the 4 times Bundesliga winner, Franz Beckbauer believes that the English clubs are not going through a crisis and it’s only something temporary.

“It is a temporary problem. I am not very happy because there are no English teams in the quarter-finals. But in Germany we are having the same debate. We almost have the same problems. We had four teams in the Champions League but only one has survived, Bayern Munich. It is temporary. Sometimes you are very unlucky and you get defeated. Next year is another year.” Former star of Bayern Munich, Franz Beckenbauer said as he voiced his opinion concerning the current situation of the Premier League clubs and their recent inability on getting into the final rounds of the European competitions in this season. BEKENBAUER NOT KEEN ON TECHNOLOGY

Thursday, January 12th, 2012

Bayern Munich CEO Franz Beckenbauer has slammed the decision by FIFA president Sepp Blatter over the proposed goal-line technology.

The current FIFA president Sepp Blatter has been unwilling to adopt technology within football saying that it would slow down the game in various levels. This is despite the introduction of many new technologies – especially the goal-line technology, which are far more efficient than the ones seen previously.

Not only are they an extremely fast in coming to a decision, but also conveying them to the referee as well. In the wake of many refereeing decisions that have gone wrong, Franz Beckenbauer has come out with a statement criticising the decision by Blatter to hold the goal-line technology.

Instead of using technology, Blatter decided to bring in two extra officials in Champions League matches, which have been of some use only. These referees have yet again shown that there are a number of mistakes occurring with human interference, which can be eliminated by the use of technology. Franz Beckenbauer spoke about the use of goal-line technology after Bayern Munich controversially won the match against Stuttgart. Mario Gomez scored two goals for Bayern Munich, but the controversy of the win has created a huge uproar in Germany.

“Football is a simple game with simple rules. It should remain like that. The human aspect should not be ignored. They could see whether somebody fouls or pulls a jersey. There are systems that are so fast and can make difficult things much easier. We are at a stage where we can use such technology,” he said when asked about the prospect of using technology in football. Franz Beckenbauer is widely regarded to be the greatest defender ever to grace the game, and also was regarded as one of the best managers for Germany.
