Yohan Cabaye hails Mesut Ozil as the Premier League’s best player

Crystal Palace midfielder Yohan Cabaye believes that Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil is currently the best player in the Premier League.

The Germany international is in his fifth season with the Gunners for whom he remains a pivotal player in the starting lineup.

In an interview with France Football, Yohan Cabaye revealed that Ozil is the strongest player in terms of technical ability due to his vision of putting in passes that no other player could imagine, he said: “The strongest player in England, I think? Mesut Ozil. He is really, very strong. You get the impression that he does not care, that he is nonchalant, but at one point he will put a pass that nobody has seen. He always knows everything before everyone else. That’s what is fabulous about him.”

Cabaye’s comments will hold true with a huge section of Arsenal who watch the player week in week out. The German international has the ability to quickly spot everything around him and it’s a rarity to spot a run from the stands which the attacker has not also seen.

Ozil still continues to earn criticism for his inability to track back on a regular basis, but in the forward department, he remains one of the league’s best in terms of creating opportunities for his teammates. The Germany international has bagged over 30 assists in his past two seasons at the Emirates, and his importance will be more than ever this term with Arsene Wenger desperate to end the club’s Premier League drought.

The World Cup winner currently has just 12 months left on his Gunners contract, but manager Arsene Wenger is hopeful that the German will extend his stay for the long-term. Apart from Ozil, the manager is also focused on renewing deals for Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who have also entered the final year of their contracts.
