BAYERN DEFEATED IN BUNDESLIGA

Bayern Munich has been defeated by Bayer Leverkusen in a Bundesliga match played at Allianz- Arena on Sunday. Leverkusen won the match by a close margin of 2-1. This was the first defeat for Bayern Munich in the ongoing Bundesliga League. Bayern had won its first seven games on the trot, but, in this match, the Bayern players looked a bit tired. They didn’t show the same kind of enthusiasm that they had been showing in the previous matches. In spite of losing the match, Bayern managed to maintain its no. 1 status in the points table. Bayern currently has 21 points in 8 matches.

On the other hand, this was the fourth victory for Leverkusen in the ongoing tournament. This victory took Leverkusen to no. 5 in the points table. Leverkusen has played 9 matches in the tournament so far and has won four out of them. The team has been defeated in a couple of matches, while, the remaining three matches have ended in the form of draws.

Bayern Munich had been playing brilliantly since the start of the competition and they were expected to grab all the three points in this match, but, the Leverkusen boys didn’t let that happen. Sami Hyppia’s team showed tremendous character and composure and ended up on the winning side.

Leverkusen took the lead just a few minutes before the half time break.  Stefan Kiessling was the one who scored the opening goal for Leverkusen. Andre Schurrle set up the goal.  That was the one and only goal to be scored in the first 45 minutes.

The scores were levelled in the 77th minute of the match when Mario Mandzukic took advantage of a wonderful pass from Claudio Pizzaro and deflected the ball home with a brilliant header. Sidney Sam scored the decider for Leverkusen in the 87th minute of the match.

Bayern Munich will play its next match against Hamburg SV on 3rd of November at Imtech Arena.
