Franz Beckenbauer feels about Xherdan will leave Club in January

Bayern Munich president Franz Beckenbauer believes that winger Xherdan Shaqiri will be allowed to leave the club in the January transfer window.

The future of the Swiss international has been on the much speculation with many reports linking him to remain league clubs like Liverpool and Manchester United.Shaqiri is expected to cost around £ 15 million, but he has the potential to become much bigger than that. The 23-year-old was one of the players who impressed at the World Cup 2014 with Switzerland, but he has been starved of game time at Bayern Munich due to competition from the likes of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery who play in his position as well.

It is not certain that a Premier League club will sign him given that he is attracting attention from the likes of Inter Milan, who may be prepared to offer more first-team opportunities. Playing regularly is the important thing forShaqiri at the moment.

Despite a strong performance at the World Cup, he has not been able to feature regularly for Bayern Munich this season. He has played only three starts and has featured in less than 300 minutes. Despite this, he has contributed three goals. Beckenbauer admitted that the club would like to keep hold of the player, but they would not stand in the way of a player who wants to leave.

“Bayern have already sent out a signal and indicated to him that he can probably go in the winter break, when he wants. Personally, I want players who want to stay here with us, for me if a player doesn’t want to be here then it’s right he go to another club. I think it’s a shame because he is a great talent,” said Beckenbauer.Shaqiri joined Bayern Munich back in 2012 from Swiss outfit FC Basel.
