MARTINEZ MONEY IS FAIR

The Bayern Munich legend Franz Beckenbauer has said that the € 40 million price tag on the Spanish midfielder Javi Martinez is justified. The German club have spent a lot of money on the defensive midfielder, who is regarded as one of the best in the world. However, many have said that it is a price tag that is not justifiable due to the factors like his position on the pitch. The club’s legend Franz Beckenbauer, though, has said that he is confident that Javi Martinez will prove to be available signing in the years to come.

Bayern Munich have endured disappointments in the Champions League after coming to the final stage in two of the last three seasons. They have also not been able to lift the league title ahead of Dortmund. They have made the club extremely desperate for new trophies, and they have spent a lot of money in order to be competitive once again. Many, including Steffen Effenberg, have questioned the transfer fee paid by the German club to Atletico Bilbao for his signature. Franz Beckenbauer, though, has said that he has seen enough in the player to pay any price for him.

“Why would you leave the money on the fixed deposit account, since you hardly get any interest for it anyway. I am very curious about this purchase. It used to be that you only paid so much money for a striker, while defensive players were brought up from the youth system. Times have changed,” said Franz Beckenbauer regarding Javi Martinez’s signing. The 23-year-old is capable of playing in various positions like defence and midfield. The 66-year-old has said that it is not good to have the money in the bank just any interest, but it is better to spend the money on such a player.
