IS LEWANDOWSKI THE FACE OF GERMAN FOOTBALL?

There have been quite a whole lot of players (some world-class and a lot of others above average) who have plied their trade in the German Bundesliga. Certain great players from all over the world have managed to find their way to Germany’s top-flight division and they have also been able to go on to make a name for themselves in the process. While it is popularly believed that the Bundesliga is a League that allows only players of German descent to blossom, there have been a couple of players who have proved that theory wrong and of course, the one name that quickly comes to mind is Poland’s international striker Robert Lewandowski.


Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are the two biggest names in the Bundesliga but it still does not mean that they are the only two clubs that produce the best of players. Lewandowski did, however, join Bayern Munich from Dortmund some years ago. The striker was already making a name for himself as one of the best forwards in the world at Dortmund and joining Bayern made him even more lethal and he has continued to maintain that status to date. FRANZ BECKENBAUER: BAYERN MUNICH CAREER EXAMINED

German football icon Franz Beckenbauer, also known as Der Kaiser, made his debut for Bayern Munich against St. Pauli on June 6, 1964. His first game for the Bavarian giants was in a German Bundesliga promotion playoff and he started the game on the left wing.

In his first season in the Regional League South during the 1964/65 season, Bayern Munich won the league and eventually sealed promotion to the German Bundesliga. The Regional League South was the second level in German club football during his playing days.

BECKENBAUER: MULLER IS A PHENOMENAL PLAYER

Bayern Munich and Germany legend Franz Beckenbauer has hailed Thomas Muller, insisting that the Bayern Munich striker is one of a kind and what every club needs. Muller has, over the past couple of years, evolved into a more complete player in terms of his playmaking abilities and how he has also added to not only the number of goals he now scored per game but also the number of assists he creates as well.

The striker has improved season by season and even though he does not get enough accolades that he deserves, his club’s former player Beckenbauer has identified his contributions for his team and how he also coordinates play in the attack. Despite the managerial changes that Bayern have had over the years, none of the managers has ever deemed him surplus to requirements and it further goes on to paint just how much of an important player he is to the club.

BAYERN STARS WOULD TEST NAGELSMANN – BECKENBAUER

German football legend Franz Beckenbauer has stated that the veteran players in the Bayern Munich squad would test the managerial credentials of young tactician Julian Nagelsmannat the Allianz Arena.

Nagelsmann is widely seen by many football stakeholders asthe best young managerin world football and he has just been named the new manager at Bayern Munich. He is currently in charge of German Bundesliga rivals RB Leipzig.

BECKENBAUER CALLS FOR CLARITY FROM FLICK

Bayern Munich president Franz Beckenbauer has demanded that Hansi Flick addresses his future with more clarity after the club’s manager announced last week that he would be stepping down from the club as the head coach. Flick sent Shockwave to the football world after confirming that he would not be able to continue as Bayern Munich’s manager next season, despite the successes he has enjoyed at the club.

Before making the statement official, Flick’s future was covered in intense speculation as pressure began to mount on him following a couple of slight changes in his team’s results. One of those negative results was the one that saw them get knocked out of the UEFA Champions League competition in the quarter-final stage at the hands of current semi-finalists Paris Saint-Germain.

FRANZ BECKENBAUER: LEGEND OF GERMAN FOOTBALL

Franz Beckenbauer, fondly called Der Kaiser, is a legend of German football following his achievements as a professional footballer and as a professional manager. One won’t be out of place to call Franz Beckenbauer the best player in the history of German football. Franz Beckenbauer would forever be known as the man who gave the centre back position a different meaning. Franz Beckenbauer started the trend of centre backs bringing the ball out of defence to launch attacks on the opposition with ease. Franz Beckenbauer spent his club football career in two countries alone, the United States of America and his native Germany. Der Kaiser spent the best part of his football career at Bayern Munich and also played for Hamburg. Franz Beckenbauer was in the same team as the goalscoring machine Gerd Muller. They both played for Bayern Munich and Germany together in the 70s. Franz Beckenbauer also played for one club known as New York Cosmos in the United States of America. He was at New York Cosmos alongside the great Pele. Franz Beckenbauer is the first man to win the FIFA World Cup tournament as a player and as a manager. It took Franz Beckenbauer sixty years of the FIFA World Cup to set the record.

FRANZ BECKENBAUER THE LEGEND

Franz Beckenbauer is without a shadow of doubt a legend of the game mainly due to his achievements as a professional footballer. ‘Der Kaiser’ as he’s fondly called is widely regarded by many as the best defender to ever play the round leather game. Franz Beckenbauer is credited for the modern sweeper role, which was known as libero in the 70s. He started the trend of defensive players moving the ball out of defence and towards the opposition. Franz Beckenbauer was a visionary both as a player and as a manager.

Der Kaiser played for just three clubs professionally during his career. He spent the best and longest part of his football career with German football giants Bayern Munich and also played for Hamburg and New York Cosmos. Franz Beckenbauer spent two separate spells with New York Cosmos in the United States of America. His Bayern Munich career covered majority of his international career with West Germany. Franz Beckenbauer scored 14 times in 103 caps for West Germany between 1965 and 1977, while he was a Bayern Munich player from 1964 to 1977. To the delight of Franz Beckenbauer, he was named in the all-time Ballon d’Or Dream Team that was released earlier this week. He was joined by his fellow Bayern Munich legend Lothar Matthäus.

BECKENBAUER TOPS BALLON D’OR DEFENDERS’ LIST

German football icon Franz Beckenbauer has been named the best defender to ever win the much coveted Ballon d’Or Award. According to the list compiled by sportskeeda, Franz Beckenbauer finished top of the three-man list of former Ballond’Or winners. Only three defenders have won the Ballon d’Or Award since it started over six decades ago and they are Franz Beckenbauer, Matthias Sammer and Fabio Cannavaro who became the one and only non-German to win the award as a defender.


Fabio Cannavaro finished third on the list behind both Matthias Sammer and Franz Beckenbauer. The Italian was instrumental to the Juventus team that won a second successive league title at the end of the 2005/06. He formed a good defensive partnership with Lilian Thuram in front of Gianlugi Buffon. Fabio Cannavaro capped his excellent season with the World Cup trophy after leading the Azzuris to their fourth title under the managerial guidance of Marcelo Lippi. Read the rest of this entry »

Real Madrid to Compete with Juventus for Haaland

It is normal that many clubs in the football world almost get involved for some players to make them play in their team. Erling Haaland is one of those players who is going to experience a tug of war for him between two of the most famous clubs in the football world. Now it will be his choice where he will like to play, Spain or Germany.


The LA Liga giant Real Madrid is planning to bring Erling Haaland to their club in the summer of 2022 and thus they are planning from now. They know that picking a good player like Haaland will not be very easy for them as many other clubs will look into the moves of each other.
