BECKENBAUER CALLS FOR CLARITY FROM FLICK

Bayern Munich president Franz Beckenbauer has demanded that Hansi Flick addresses his future with more clarity after the club’s manager announced last week that he would be stepping down from the club as the head coach. Flick sent Shockwave to the football world after confirming that he would not be able to continue as Bayern Munich’s manager next season, despite the successes he has enjoyed at the club.

Before making the statement official, Flick’s future was covered in intense speculation as pressure began to mount on him following a couple of slight changes in his team’s results. One of those negative results was the one that saw them get knocked out of the UEFA Champions League competition in the quarter-final stage at the hands of current semi-finalists Paris Saint-Germain.

The manager, 56, is reportedly stepping down as Bayern manager so he could secure the German national team head coach role which will be vacant later this year after Joachim Low declared his desire to step down from the job after this year’s Euro tournament. When asked if he has had his mind made up, and whether he would be the next German national team’s head coach, Flick gave out no vital information.

However, the club’s president, Beckenbauer, has urged the manager to approach the situation with more clarity and give a better explanation of the current situation so that everyone would have a better understanding of his intentions.

Speaking to Sport 1, the Bayern legend said that Flick should pick a clear side that he’s on and then make his desire clear regarding whether or not he wants to remain at the helm next season. Beckenbauer also said that the Champions League-winning manager should give a direct answer to the question rather than not doing so, as it would make everyone know his stance.
