Franz Comments On Bastian’s Performance

Saturday, August 20th, 2016

Franz Beckenbauer is legend by his own achievements and when he talks about others, it surely brings them under the spotlight as well.

For instance, he has been noticing the performance of Bastian Schweinsteiger and how he has helped in turning things around for his team in Euro 2016. He has been telling Bild that Bastian Schweinsteiger has definitely overcome the problems that he faced when he was at Manchester.

Joachim Low included Bastian Schweinsteiger in the squad. The player, who is about 31 years of age, is on in the summer tournament even though he has suffered from a partial tear. This has happened in his right knee as a result of playing in March. Being the Germany captain, it definitely affects the team’s games when the captain is absent due to injury. He returned last weekend for a friendly match that was played against Hungary. The game ended with Germany has victory over their opponent with a score of 2-0.

FRANZ BECKENBAUER: BARCELONA TO REACH UCL FINAL

Thursday, April 28th, 2016

Franz Beckenbauer says he is a fan of the Catalan giants, hence he backs the team to reach the champions league final. This came as the team defeated Athletico Madrid in the 2016 quarter finals match on Tuesday.

AC Milan were the last team to win the title back to back while the tournament was in the former format. AC Milan won the titles during the 1989 – 1990 season when the three Dutchmen in Marco Van Basten, Frank Rijkaard and Ruud Gullits changed Italian football.

Beckenbauer admitted he has a soft spot for Barcelona star, Leo Messi. He says he wishes to see The Blaugrana in the final come May 2016 in Milan. The Luis Enrique-led team is hoping to be the first team to successfully defend the UCL title since it was rebranded in 1992.

“The way they [Barcelona] play football is very unique and entertaining, I certainly consider myself a Barcelona fan,” said legendary World Cup winner as part as his ambassadorial role for the Football for Friendship project. The reason for their success has a name: Leo Messi. He is simply the best.” (more…)

Franz Beckenbauer does not agree to the opinion that there has been improvement in the standard of Football

Saturday, June 27th, 2015

Franz Beckenbauer does not agree to the opinion that there has been improvement in the standard of Football in the Italian top tier in the recent times.

In fact, he reckons it’s weakened.

According to Beckenbauer, just because Juventus has been able to do well in Europe, people have started believing that the club Football in Italy has revived, but, it’s not the truth.

Addressing the media in an event, Beckenbauer said, “Juventus is world class and they have shown over the last couple of seasons that they would beat any team on their day, but, on the basis of the successes that they have achieved, we can’t judge the Italian Football in general.”

“For me, Italy is still not in the top bracket. If I have to pick, I would go with Spain at the top, Germany no. 2, England no. 3 and then, you can talk about the leagues in France, Italy etc.”

“It’s nice to see that an Italian team is in the European final, but, you will have to keep in mind that Juventus is a class above the rest of the teams going around in Serie A at the moment.” (more…)

Dante is regarded to be a solid player

Monday, April 20th, 2015

The 31 year old Brazilian defender of Bayern Munich, Dante is regarded to be a solid player as he is a consistent player for the German club and has helped his club in winning 2 successive Bundesliga titles as well as a Champions League silverware during the 2012-13 season. Dante has lifted a lot more trophies with Bayern Munich in these past few years with consistently high level performances in each season.

Dante suffered a recent slip-up when performing for Bayern Munich during their Champions League match against Porto as the Brazilian defender was one of the reasons on why his club lost 1-3 after locking horns with the Portuguese club.

Bayern Munich are one of the favorites on winning the Champions League in this season but on April 15 they were shockingly defeated against Porto in the 1st leg of the quarter-finals of the European competition and Dante can be blamed for this disastrous result as he made a disastrous performance after allowing Ricardo Quaresma to pick up the ball and score the opening goal of the match.

The former star of Bayern Munich, Franz Beckenbauer had a few things to say concerning the match that was played between Bayern Munich and Porto as the retired player stated that every player in the squad of Pep Guardiola performed below their usual level but Dante was the worst of them all. ARE BAYERN UNWATCHABLE?

Tuesday, March 25th, 2014

Bayern Munich legend Franz Beckenbauer has come out with the astonishing statement that the club are becoming unwatchable under the tactics of new manager Pep Guardiola. The former Barcelona man was brought in the summer to start an era of world domination by the German club. He responded immediately by winning the UEFA super cup and the FIFA club World Cup. Bayern Munich are also top of the Bundesliga table with a significant 20 point margin, which is the highest seen in the German top division at this stage in the season.

The club are also undefeated in the last 50 matches, which is a new top-flight record in Europe. Despite these achievements, Beckenbauer is least impressed because he feels that the tactics of Guardiola to just keep the passing the ball in the bid to control the game is making the club become boring. Bayern Munich won three major trophies last season, but they did not adopt such tactics. Beckenbauer admitted that Guardiola’s tactics were immensely successful at Barcelona, but the decision to dominate matches by the monopoly of possession is not in the ideal way according to the former World Cup winner.

Beckenbauer was a manager himself – and a very successful one at that. Guardiola has responded to those comments by saying that he will accept any criticism that comes his way.

“In the end, it’ll be like Barcelona – unwatchable. They will pass the ball back even on the goal-line,” said the German legend after the 1-1 draw with Arsenal in the Champions League. “Franz isn’t a legend. He is this club’s legend. I have enormous respect for his opinion. I give the very best I can – I did at Barcelona and I do here. I always accept these opinions,” said the Bayern Munich manager, who has already won two Champions League titles as a manager.

TREBLE DREAMS

Tuesday, January 21st, 2014

Bayern Munich last season created history by winning the treble, as they lifted the Champions League, Bundesliga, and the German Cup in one single season. A large portion of their success was due to the attacking players like Frank Ribery and Arjen Robben, but it has also been due to the defensive contribution from the centre backs like Dante. The Brazilian was initially expected to be a backup at the club, but he has grown in stature in recent years. The 30-year-old made 45 appearances for Bayern Munich in his first season at the club.

He was rock solid in defence and formed a great partnership with Jerome Boateng. He was expected to build on the success of last season due to the arrival of Guardiola, who is a fan of defenders who can play the ball. However, his form has not been exceptional like last season and there have been a few circumstances where he has been culprit of letting the opposition score. Former Bayern Munich defender Franz Beckenbauer, who made more than 400 appearances for the club in a stellar career, says that he is confident that Dante can recover the form that made him formidable.

Dante was signed for just under € 5 million at the start of last season.

“He played much better and was much more consistent last season. Now he makes many, many mistakes. Perhaps the winter break will do him good and help him to recover,” said the former Germany player and manager. Dante is already on his way to securing more trophies this campaign. He has added the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup titles to his collection. The club are in a great position to win the league title once more this campaign, while they have drawn Arsenal in the Champions league knockout stages.

BAYERN WANT THIAGO

Monday, July 15th, 2013

The manager of Bayern Munich, Pep Guardiola, has admitted that he wants to sign Barcelona’s midfielder Thiago Alcantara.

A lot of top clubs including Manchester United and Real Madrid have already been linked with Thiago. Now, Bayern Munich has also joined the race and now, it would be interesting to see where the Italian midfielder prefers to go.

Talking to the reporters yesterday, Guardiola said, “Yes, It’s true that I want to sign Thiago. I have made the board aware of my desire.”

“I have seen Thiago play for Barcelona and I am very impressed with him. He is a class act and he can play in different positions.”

“Yesterday, I had a chat with the chairman and the director and I told them that I wanted to bring Thiago here.”

“He is the only player whom I am interested in. Either I will sign him or there will be no signings this summer.”

“We already have some very good players in the squad, but, you want a couple of impact players there who can turn the match on their own. I think Thiago is one of those players.”

There are already quite a few midfielders in the Munich squad. Arjen Robben, Toni Kroos and Thomas Muller, all of them are quality midfielders.

When asked if adding another midfielder to the squad is a real necessity for Munich at the moment, Guardiola said, “As I said the impact players always make difference and Thiago is one such player in my opinion. I have told the board everything. Now, it’s up to them to take a decision.”

According to the reports, the transfer fee that Barcelona is expected to demand for Thiago is 26 million US Dollars. The 22 years old Italian midfielder still has a couple of years left in his contract with Barcelona.
